The weather is cooling down and some of us here on the Vertical Harvest staff aren’t quite ready for the winter. To keep the proverbial sun shining, we decided to compile a list of some of the beautiful botanical gardens around the US.
Is there one in your neck of the woods?
The Denver Botanical Garden – Wander in any of their five beautiful gardens. Open all year, they have daily activities ranging from informational lectures on the art of beekeeping to evening yoga sessions. Use their trip planner to get the most out of your visit.
Brooklyn Botanical Garden – All the way on the other side of the country the BBG has everything a gardener could dream of. An expansive library, classes for adults, children and families and wonderful events like the Chile Pepper Fiesta.
Arnold Arboretum at Harvard University – Just down the road are the gardens at Harvard University. A beautiful escape just outside Boston. In addition to daily walking tours and presentations, they have a library and even a hotline where you can call in questions about plants that are native to the area.
The United States Botanic Garden – In our nations capital is one of the most beautiful botanical gardens around. They have wonderful programs and events for the whole family to enjoy. Make sure to put the USBG on your list of sites to see the next time you head to D.C.
The Memphis Botanic Gardens – 96 acres in size the Memphis Botanic Gardens is a must see if you’re in the area. The trails make their way through native plants, Japanese gardens and natural woodlands making this an experience the whole family can enjoy. They also have monthly art exhibits from the Visitors Center and a plethora of activities year round.
